Let’s start with the basics before we get into fancier versions. Follow this recipe to make a delicious and simple cup of Bulletproof Coffee (BPC), it’s super easy and quick to make. The only tools and equipment you need is a blender and a cup or mug. 

What you need:

  • 2 tablespoons butter, unsalted and grass-fed
  • 1-2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 cups of freshly brewed coffee

What to do:

First brew your coffee. It doesn’t matter how you make it, French press, drip, or espresso, just make sure it’s hot. While your coffee is brewing, you’ll need to heat up your blender by filling it with hot water. When your coffee is ready, pour the hot water out of your now heated blender and pour in the coffee. Add the butter and coconut oil. Start blending and continue until a thick layer of foam rests on top.

That’s it. You just made a perfect cup of BPC. Now you’re ready to spice it up.

Gingerbread BPC

What you need:

  • 1 teaspoon gingerbread spice for every 2 tablespoons of ground coffee
  • 1 tablespoon butter, unsalted and grass-fed
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil

What to do:

Before brewing your coffee, sprinkle the gingerbread spice over the grounds. Next, brew the coffee using the method you prefer. When coffee is finished, pour it hot into the blender and add the butter, coconut oil and any sweetener you might like. Blend until creamy and frothy on top. For garnish, sprinkle with gingerbread spice.

Pumpkin Spice Bulletproof Latte

What you need:

  • 2 tablespoons butter, unsalted and grass-fed
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 cup coconut milk, unsweetened
  • 1 cup coffee, cooled
  • 1/3 cup pumpkin puree
  • pinch of salt
  • cinnamon and nutmeg, to taste

What to do:

First, scoop the solids off the top of the unsweetened coconut milk, then measure a cup of the remaining liquid. In a blender, combine the coconut milk, coffee, pumpkin puree, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg in a blender. Blend until smooth. Fill two glasses with ice before pouring the mixture into each glass. Garnish with whipped coconut cream if desired. Serve right away.

What you need:

  • 1/2 cup water, filtered
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, unsalted and grass-fed
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cinnamon to taste

What to do:

In a small saucepan bring the water and coconut milk to boil. In a small bowl mix the boiling liquid with the butter, coconut oil, cocoa powder, vanilla and a dash of cinnamon. Transfer mixture to a blender and blend until frothy.

Bulletproof Green Tea

What you need:

  • 2-3 organic green tea teabags
  • 2 tablespoons butter, unsalted and grass-fed
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 2-3 cups of ice

What to do:

Brew your tea using twice the number of teabags you would normally use. When tea is finished brewing, pour it into a blender and add butter and coconut oil. Blend until frothy. Chill the tea for one to two hours in the freezer. Pour tea back into the blender and add ice. Blend until well combined.

Vegan Bulletproof Coffee

What you need:

  • 2 cups of freshly brewed organic coffee, hot
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegan butter
  • 1-2 tablespoons coconut or almond milk, unsweetened
  • vanilla extract (optional)
  • sweetener (optional)
  • cinnamon (optional)

What to do:

You’ll make this vegan version just like the regular recipe. Brew your coffee and make sure it’s hot. Heat your blender with hot water. When the coffee is done, empty the water and pour the coffee in the blender along with the coconut oil or butter and the milk substitute. Add the optional ingredients to taste.
